New varieties realased from ICAR-NRCSS

Coriander (Dhania):

Ajmer Coriander-1 (ACr-1 )

·      Dual purpose Variety suitable for leaves and seeds production

·      grains are medium to small, having essential oil content up to 0.5%

·      resistant to stem gall and have tolerance to powdery mildew

   Average yield 1250 kg seeds per hectare.

Fennel (Saunf):

Ajmer Fennel -2 (AF-2): A fennel population namely AF-2 has been developed and identified for release for all fennel growing areas of India in XXVI workshop of AICRP on Spices at IISR Calicut during October 5 to 7, 2015. Salient features of the variety are:

Ø  AF-2 gave 17.9 q/ha seed yield  which is 10.6 % higher than the national check variety RF-205.

Ø  AF-2 is moderately resistant to Ramularia blight diseases

Ø  AF-2 is also superior in quality as seed contains 1.9 % essential oil which was 18.5 and 11.7 % higher than RF-205 and RF-101, respectively

Ø  It’s essential oil  contain 57.5% Anethol + Estyragol  which is 22.4% higher than RF-205. 

Fenugreek (Methi):

Ajmer Fenugreek -3  (AFg-3):A Fenugreek variety AFg-3 having superior quality and high yield has been identified for all fenugreek growing areas of India by AICRP on spices in 2012. Salient features of this variety are:

·         18.80 % higher seed yield as compared to national check Hisar Sonali

·         11.13 % higher seed yield than Hisar Sonali (National Check) in Coordinated varietal testing 

·         Found to be desirable and stable for yield (Eberhart and Russel Model)

·         Moderate resistant to powdery mildew and root rot

·         Having  0.97 % 4-hydroxyisolucine in seed which is higher than all other tested varieties. It also having 1.79 % diosgenin in seed

Ajmer Fenugreek 4 (AFg-4)

·         AFg-4 is appropriate for Rajasthan State

·         average yield in different trials with Rajasthan is 19.25 q/ha

·         seed contains 1.74 % diosgenin

·         1000 seed weight is 13-14 g.

Carom Seed (Ajwain):

Ajmer Ajwain -93 (AA-93)

·         early maturing variety within 120-130 days

·         plant height is about 80-90 cm

·         lodging resistant in case of heavy dew

·         can be grown with 30 cm spacing and 80x50x50 kg N:P2O5:K2O which can gave production of 14 q/ha.

Dill (Sowa):  

Ajmer Dill-2 (AD-2)

·      Indian type dill variety

·      matures in 135 days

·      Average yield of about 14.6 q/ha

Celery (Ajmud):

Ajmer Celery-1 (ACel-1)

·      suitable for cultivation in semi arid regions under irrigated conditions

·      average yield of 8.01 q / ha with potential yield of 12.1 q / ha

·      essential oil content of 2.4 % from seeds.
